Hello-
i am hoping someone in this group can help me out- My daughter lost her eyesight about 3 years ago, It has been a slow and painful journey and she adapts to her new circumstances- She recently asked for a VCR so she can watch her favorite shows again- Can anyone recommend a vcr that is easy to work? Everything is digital and so sight intuitive, i cannot find one that i think would not frustrate her and have her give up easily- Any help would be truly appreciated-

Many DVD's have audio menus that can be turned on, and I found a website that has some pretty amazing remote control devices that can be programmed to work with almost any DVD player and TV. I am looking into them for my fiance, who has recently lost his vision as well and has trouble with menus on the TV screen but can still watch a program for the most part if it's on a large enough screen.

I can't understand the want for a VCR, but here's one for $40.00. It's an Emerson, but I have had good luck with their equipment. I was an audio/video tech, too.

It has to be pretty basic for that price. Why not get a DVD player or something with digital compatibility?

Note to Bethany: Look at the Logitech Harmony remotes. They program via the internet and are bulletproof. I've used them for years and my oldest clients had almost no problem operating them. The programming can be difficult for a first timer.

To Barry5-
we can do dvd as well- she has a mix of both medias- I just want to buy her a vcr/dvd player that she with little help can work on her own- want to start her with something that she can play with and get the hang of it- this is all new to us and i am just trying to figure out what is available to her- thank you-

You might want to consider going to or calling you local association for the blind & visually impaired they may also be able to help you as well.
