I've no idea about the kidney stones but my early signs were, quite simply, blood in the urine.

The first time was when my 10 year old daughter sat on my lap rather too heavily. The next time I went to the toilet it was the colour of gravy! I went to the doctor with a sample and they said that it was definitely blood and to keep an eye on things.

A few weeks later I had to go to a funeral and and had to squeeze into a suit that I hadn't worn in years and was way too small. After the event it was the brown, cloudy pee again. This time I was sent off for a cystoscopy and there was a tumour diagnosed.

To be honest it's not the easiest thing to check for and if it wasn't for these two unrelated events I shudder to think what would have happened.

My husband had problems with stones during most of his life. He is 53. When he started passing blood and having pain, he thought it was due to kidney stones. He never told me about either problem. One day he passed out from the pain. The next day he was diagnosed with stage 4, inoperable bladder cancer. The Doctor at MD Anderson in Houston told him he had had cancer for atleast two years when he was diagnosed.
PLEASE don't ignore passing blood and pain. Get checked out ASAP.

6 weeks ago I had blood in my urine and thought it was stones without the pain, just had a friend go through that. Went right to the doctor the next day a cat scam showed a tumor had the biopsy and just found out it was low grade cancer and was taken care of.
Its all about early detection and taking action.

Mine was misdiagnosed as stones 2 times before I finally had so much blood that hey had no choice but to do a ct. The symptoms for me where much like stones, Frequesnt urination sort of a hip pain , lower back pain , bloody urine at times then I started noticing I was so tired at times requiring naps in the day I am only 41 and was very healthy prior to this, I think and thsi is my opinion that mine would have been caught about 4 years or so earlier had they done a ct.

My husband was diagnosed apx 5 yrs ago....first may I say everyone is different in how they may present, or initial diagnosis and prognosis, this is our journey. I consider it a blessing he had the symptom of hematuria(blood in urine) when he was first diagnosed I must have spent 3 hours a day on researching topic....understandable yet in hindsight I believe our time could have been spent differently .....enjoying a comedy etc.....my husband has had 4 reoccurrences (and tumor removal the lastest being 3 mths ago. Scheduled cystoscopy this 20th. To recheck for return of cancer...it is a highly reoccurring disease as u probably know. The stress emotionally and financially has taken a toll on our marriage. Before I forget, I dispose the term "superficial" cancer. It to can spread thru lining or blood stream to near and far organs...especially the lungs. We thought this to be the case 2 mths ago...but it was a "smear" on xray, praise God! I have not been on DS for apx 2 years. I miss the support and friends that I made in the years visiting here. All I have is a cell Ph. So I cannot come and visit as much as I would like. Just wanted to answer initial question about early signs....personally speaking our dog kept jumping on his lower abdomen ...makes me wonder if he sensed or scensed the cancer. We are the lucky ones....I have had these years with him...albiet tainted w fear....he regrets not spending the time better....he honestly thought he very little time...since his first Dr. Told him he waited to long. Side note, that physician who jogged, didn't smoke etc....passed later that year of heart attack they were close in age....I believe if my husband did not quit cold Turkey smoking 4 yes ago he wouldn't be here. Yes. After initial blood in urine, MRI, blood tests, cystostomy with no cancer found. MRI showed several kidney stones. He said I was cancer free at that time.

Bleed stopped, then started, then stopped intermittently thereafter. 4 months later I had enough, and we went through all the tests again and found what ended up to be stage pT3 aggressive bladder cancer.

It cost a lot of money to do these tests twice...I AM SO HAPPY I pressed my urologist for further testing 4 months later. I'd be dead or dying now instead of being cancer free for almost one year.

I have changed my diet however to limit oxalates, as I am a stone producer. Will see that progress in my followup MRI scheduled for Dec 2012.

In June of 2016 I was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer . The only way it was found was I was having very bad pain in my back that I could not lift my right leg. I went to the er and the did ct scan and found that I had kidney stones in the tubes. dr said I need to see a kidney dr. he said it look like it was all contained in the right kidney and it was not in the tubes. They removed my right kidney when test came back he said I had a very aggressive stage 4 cancer and I will need to be watched every 3 months for 5 years. My question is for last week I have had very bad pain in my bladder area it kinda feels like period pains and it hurts all the way through to my back . I don't understand I have had a full hysto. I am scared the cancer has moved to my bladder can anyone tell me what kind of pain do u have with bladder cancer? I have not got in to see my dr yet and I am super worried.
