honestly, i don't think you handled that wrong. it's not her decision to make. i have always been a fan of the saying "whether it is gay, straight, transgender, etc. love is love". i've personally ended a few friendships over the past few weeks because people chose to tell me that because i was bi, i was "wrong and i was going to hell". i don't think you handled it wrong at all. the only thing i would have done differently is, as soon as she started questioning you, i would have asked her "is my love life really any of your business? do i go around telling you how to live? then with all due respect, don't preach to me. i don't want it, i don't need it, and i don't care for it" and then i'd have completely ignored her. some people are bigots, and unfortunately, we'll always have to deal with them. but it's best to just push them out of our lives and our paths and keep moving forward. don't beat yourself up about this. you're luckier than most having accepting parents. my dad wrote me out of his will when he found out i was bi. keep your chin up :)

If "God" is so wonderful and absolute, why does it keep creating gays?

There are so many "Gods" anyway how in the world can hers be right? Is there any way she can prove 100% that it would hate gays? No, of course not. Look at the Vatican cover ups of priests raping alter boys. If "God" hates gays, why has it let the priests rape little boys for hundreds of years?

We need more people to stand up for themselves and not play the "victim". If more of us did, I think there would be a lot less harassment.

You did great!! No harm in standing up for yourself. I'm sure that was very hard for you to hear, but remember people can be very ignorant and you are very blessed to have support behind you with your parents and friends.

The way that I have learned to deal with situations like that is by asking these self righteous bible thumpers a simple question.

"Why are you trying to do God's job for him? If god made me, then surly he knows who I am better than you do. If he has not chosen to step in and redirect my life then why do you feel that you are so important that you need to step in and do it for him?"

I'm not Christian, but I was raised in the faith and I've found that, that question usually shuts up all but the most ignorant of individuals.
