When I was on zyprexa several years ago, I ate like a horse. The twitches that you are talking about may be tardinsive askasia, (sp?) you might want to speak to your pdoc about that one..Some A/P can cause this.

Zyprexa gave me diabetes. My blood sugar was fine before I went on it but several months later I developed type 2 I now have to take Metformin and Actos for the rest of my life :(

There was a class action suit about 4 or 5 years back against the makers of Zyprexa, because a man died of diabetes complications, after he gained over 100 lbs while on the drug. At that point there were no warnings on the drug.

I get TD from the other drugs, and although I rarely use it, right now with all the overstimulation form prednisone and pain from my RA flares, I am back on zyprexa until my new drug kicks in. I think you need to talk to your pdoc ASAP about the TD. It can be permanent if you don't get a handle on it right away.

So yes, it causes uncontrollable appetite and weight gain. Actually, many of the anti-pychotics and AD's do. My theory is that if you mess with the mind, you are bound to have side effects. Of course, if your mind is messed up already, you might have to choose between the lesser of 2 evils. LOL

It's ok capmbarbosa, I have learned to deal with it because i have no choice. I gained weight on the zyprexa but when I stopped taking it, the weight fell off quickly.Sounds like you've been to hell and back on it. Zyprexa was also very calming to me and I slept well at night. The pdocs don't bother to tell you, hey you might gain a few lbs. and watch your glucose levels.but that doesn't happen!

From now on I'm going to do intense research on any drug that I may be prescribed in the future.

I expereinced severe weight gain with Zyprexa, it was a very good med besides that.

I had to go off it tho.

I am on zyprexa and have been in the past. YES ExTREME hunger i get and mild tremors. I also feel bloated in abdomen and face..not from weight gain mainly but just general bloat

Mainly i crave CARBS

Geodon and Abilify cause extremor twitching so i had to go off of them
