I have to say, even though it is a MAJOR WEIGHT GAINER- like crazy- I have to say, I have a bit of a love affair with zyprexa. I've never taken it as a maintenance drug (ie: never for more than a month or two at a time)- but it works so quickly, and is a great PRN/emergency drug. The melt-aways I especially like. But, if you take it for a long time, it really can cause mental fog, tremor, and like I said, fatness!

Harriet is 100% accurate. Zyprexa makes you crave food like you cant keep focus on anything else without the thought interrupting several times. I keep a 2.5 of zyprexa with me at all times it's like my 911 in case things go bad cause it works really fast (I kept one in the toe of my shoe during my wedding because of the stress level). The suppressing of my personality was a very noticeable point to those around me. i may have been stable, but I was a walking shell of myself. My family doc put me on 7.5 Zyprexa 11/08 and once I moved to a psyciatric medicen doctor 3/09 she got me off of it as fast as she could. It's a strong antipsychotic and works great for people that run really high, but I didn't need that much drug. Lamictal and tegretol with a dash of welbutrin have been a beautiful combination for me, for now. Good luck finding your right combination.

zyprexa was a real killer, besides the weight gain, the extream fatigue caused me even to loose my job. i'm on abilify now for 2 months with serequel 100mg and am more active and awake but sometimes need sleeping pill for insomnia. good luck. i hope you find what works for you. each person is indevidual

I liked zyprexa for my bad days , but as all the others have said
it makes you crave food in the worst way .
I can't afford to gain anymore weight so I am now on 400mg seroquel which is not as bad.
