Been away from here for a bit. Had some mania and all the complications that go with it. Bottom line is hubby just lost his job and we are without insurance. Zyprexa will cost over 500.00 a month and that is not an option. It has caused a weight gain of 50 lbs and I would like to stop it anyway. Back to the subject-anyone out there use it as needed or any experience about going off the medication? I don't want to get manic again. Lexapro brought it out for me last time.

They put me on it after a suicide attempt, but my pdoc is the person who informed me of this lawsuit and took me off of it immediately.

If you research it quickly you can find the news about it... Pretty scary stuff...

@#12...yes down to 5mg from 10mg after being on 10mg for around 3 months. Then 2.5 which is nothing anyway.

Whilst the mood is relatively stable (using Lamictal). I don't seem to need Zyprexa though I am currently using 5mg.

I was taking 10 mg of Zyprexa. Now I'm down to 2.5mg twice or once a day. I've already experimented. I too take Lamictal 400mg a day and Lithim 1350mg a day. Got a call in to my doc and scheduled an appointment earlier than I had.

I have no doubt It's toxic ... It feels toxic esp on higher levels.

hey lady, yes, i use to be on zyprexa for about 9 months..i gained like 70 lbs on it and still haven't taken it off.....

now, i take the zyprexa as needed..i am on 1200 mg lithium daily and 40 mg celexa daily...i stick to that now, but when i feel myself going off kilter and track.....like if i'm indluging in the alcohol...and it starts taking me.....i then stop the alcohol and take the zyprexa.....

actually i just want to stop drinking completely, because it def adds...or accelerates my mania....it's reallyl hard though...

but anyway, yes, i take the zyprexa when i feeel myuself getting mad paranoid, or see myself starting to get delusional, or feeling psychotic..then i take the zyprexa and it really helpls me.......

Doing well so far. It has been over 48 hours since I had Zyprexa. I feel clearer and and less lethargic. I also have more emotion to deal with. So far so good. I have a few left if I need to go back to them. MD says to just keep monitored by self and family. I see her soon. Thanks for all the support and info. Amazing.

Had a bit of a relapse. I cussed my husband out last night and screamed at the kids. It was bad. Then I freaked because I couldn't remember my of patient's faces. Anxiety attack. I cried for 1/2 to 1 hour about my husband losing his job and insurance, not wanting to ever be hospitalized, the kids, and being on all these meds. It was very familiar. Like my last mania episode. I feel more fragile now that before I began medications. Took 5mg Zyprexa last night. I truly do not know...
