I just wanted to let everyone know that after being out of work and on disability for 10 yrs I am working parttime at Target cashiering. I've worked 3 days and so far so good. It is humbling because I used to have a successful career in the medical field, but that's ok, I'm enjoying being around people again since I've isolated myself so much in the past. I'm still on SSd and plan to stay on it. Thanks for listening.

I lost my job nearly two years ago because of emotional distress. I am a teacher, and it was a very traumatic experience for me. Now, despite my degree, I am working for next to nothing with toddlers.
It's been a very humbling experience for me as well, but because I'm over-qualified I excel and am highly appreciated at work. Truthfully, it's what I need for right now :)
I think it is commendable of you to push yourself to step outside of your comfort zone.
