I don't understand how we can put people in space, do organ transplants, face transplants and cure diseases except when it comes to mental illness. Our illnesses can be devastating not only to us but the ones we love so much. I am tired of reading disclaimers about my medicine on how "it is believed to act on certain chemicals in the brain". Really doctor is that the best you people can do? I realize everyone is slightly different but come on they must have some idea how these things work. I think the study and treatment of mental illnesses is still in the dark ages. What will it take to get the resources and meds we need?

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

In the meantime all we can do is find the right combination of medications to act as a stable mood barrier and buffer.
Stuff with people is alot harder. There are no cures yet for some cancers and other diseases despite much research and effort and money.
The scientific study of mental illnesses is an extremely awkward one because it's hard to test new theories out. You can't test on animals so you have to test on humans and what if your combination's are deadly? it's a difficult science.
I don't know what they'd do with me, anyway. My meds always work for a little while and then stop. It would be so cool if they could just take a blood test and know what to give us!!!
And yes, a cure would be just wonderful, lostmyselfsomewhere!!!!! Or if they could just come up with a med that would make us 'normal' all the time!! That would be sweet!!!!
Bipolar disorder is a genetic defect or at least a genetic trait.
Also consider very little is known about the human brain.
Bipolar is made worse or activated by stress, so reducing stress and dealing with traumatic causes is a good start to feeling better.
The idea that everyone needs different meds is hogwash. People think this but the truth is most medication is only effective for a short period of time.
Unfortunately it is nearly futile looking for help when it comes to dealing with things like stress and trauma.
If the presidents or future president of the country child get bp and billions would be available.
