Why do I feel like this???

Wow. I don't know what's going on inside my head lately. It seems the more my new meds are working to make me feel better.....the more my Bipolar is magnified. Since I started taking Lithium 2 months ago my brain has stopped cycling...I don't re-act to every little stress in life. But the last couple of weeks I am feeling those closest to me are acting strange around me....I seem to always say the wrong things...I am clumsy...I am negative....I am starting to feel I don't "fit in." It is like they love me but don't like me? What an awful feeling inside! Makes me want to give up on even trying to act "normal!" I am soooo glad I have people on here that know what I'm feeling and going through. Thanks for listening. Ramona oxox

If lithium is the right drug for you, pulpit, and if you are taking the right dose, you will start to notice the, ahem, "differences", between YOu and Them. This will NOT be a bad thing in the long run; just keep watching, and learning.

Lithium is a wonderful "eye opener" to the self-absorbed bipolar beast, if it is the proper med for the bipolar.

I know it was for me. I've been in your shoes. And it gets better. :)

Ya know it seems like my Lithium began that way but about 6 months into it I began to feel more normal and have control over my brain. I think just to be safe check with the Pdoc first and please don't give up. It takes awhile for the docs to get the meds right. I was shocked when some finally started working for me. Big hug!

I can relate totally. I have decided I am going to pretend anymore. I have been the family secret and when things got really bad and people founda out, it was such a disgrace to my family. I have suffered with the shame of that most my life. Thank God for therapy.

I am open about my illness, but no one wants to talk about it, I mean myfamily, but people look at me really weird like they can't believe I would admit that. Some people won't even look me in the eye.
That is why I need this board, I really missed everyone tonight and feel relieved I am here.

Lithium has stabalized me but unfortunately it has made me terribly inactive and I have no motivation. It's like being very depressed but without the crying or too sad feelings. Without it, I would be a mess though so I don't have much choice. Zombieness or mania with all it's reckless behaviour. As a mother of two kids, I think they cope better with me on Lithium then the frightening mania when I don't give a fig about who I hurt or what I do. Big hugs to you.

It does get better...but you have to go through your starring role in a Psychological B-Movie before it does.

Or should that be BP Movie ?

I haven't used Lithium, but it does take a while for you to find out if it is going to work for you -- and if it still doesn't there are also other meds you can try.

I do know that you need to monitor yourself very carefully when you take this med -- it is usually very effective, but also very potent.

You need to watch your fluid and salt intakes, and know what to watch for in case you start to get toxic on it.
Talk with your Dr. about it if you haven't already done so.

Could it be that now that the mania and depression are gone you're starting to deal with your *real* feelings. That's not to say that you are truly clumsy and negative but maybe not that you're no longer hanging on for dear life you have a chance for introspection. You might consider therapy...

I'm also on Lithium it is the best med I have ever taken for my BP. At first it was uncomfortable but the ppl here said it will adjust and one day you will wake up and just feel great and I do. Day one I slept, no more head racing, that was paralizing to me. If I didn't have a problem to race I would imagine things to race about. That's all gone now. Stick with it. You may be feeling a little paranoid, you are probably not reacting as you used to so pll around you now have to swith or change the dance if you will. So let them you will be just fine;)
