Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I am recovering alco/addict and love to self medicate and stats are high to validate that bi-polars do this. I too did it for sleep but that is bull%*@$ as it induces mania and depression and its kinda fun when your in it but friends etc don't feel the same.
My diet was Bourbon on weekends and no sleep at all and 1/2 case beer on weeknights & did this for 20 years.
I have cirrhosis of the liver and have run out of drugs and options my body cant take it anymore-hey don't get to where I am if you can.
Sounds like you too might have a problem also, I know its not what you want to hear as it took heaps of sh#* for me to give up but there heaps of good listeners and support here!

You'll sleep like a baby, wake up with a clear head and a happy heart, and you'll float through the day on a brain filled with endorphins.
(Had to quit Abilify because it obliterated my libido, stopped Wellbutrin and Adderall because they caused insomnia and escalated hypo-mania, and now my only problem is TMJ and a weird tongue disorder.)
I keep asking my husband to tell me if I'm off kilter, but as long as we have our nights, he says the days are fine.
So, today I found ZenHabits.com, and think I'll follow them step by step to an uncluttered house and healthy bliss.
I have to say if getting to sleep is your major problem then maybe you don't need any drugs. If you are playing around with drugs like this you are negating any positive treatment aspects, if any, and may as well stop and start afresh as you have clearly got some very bad habits.
Ask yourself one question, not for me, for you.
Are you serious about dealing with your illness? If you are then stop playing and start listening. If not then why bother at all?
Good luck everyone; we all know the facts, but I hope your learning curve isn't as steep as ours.
