Saw a new therapist today. She came highly recommended, with a master's in psychology.First thing, she kept me waiting for 5 minutes, until I realized I was supposed to go into her office and greet her, instead of her coming into the waiting room to greet me. It's funny but the main thing I remember about the session was that she had a HUGE fish tank in her office which was very loud, and I had to practically yell to be heard over it. I thought about walking out a couple of times, but I thought "Well, you may as well just ride it out now." At the end of the session she gave me her private number and asked me to call if I wanted to come back. Obviously I don't. As far as I'm concerned,I wasted $100 and an hour out of my life, but it's not just that, she actually SCARED me. I'm trying to see if the pdoc who adjusted my meds in hospital will take me on an outpatient basis because I really like him. If I see him I have to see a therapist who works in his office. I figure it wouldn't be any worse than today was. I can't make up my mind whether I need therapy or not,and I was really shaken up over that woman today,so now I'm all confused again.

I have a new therapist and we are making some ground on really deeply-rooted things from childhood, and it's actually helping me to gain strength as an adult. There's nothing we can do to change our pasts, but we can gather understanding about our current behaviors and why we do the things we do. Seems like a simple thing, but sometimes a trustworthy supporter and professional 'encourager' can help, which is what I feel my current therapist and I are doing. A cynic might say, yeah yeah yeah, they get paid to tell you nice things, but when there is a good honest genuine connection, a lot of growth and progress can be discovered.
Trouble is, finding that right connection. I wish you well if you do decide to keep trying to find the RIGHT therapist.
Oh seeing a new therapist is tough if there is something you want to work on its worth while if you just dig up the past it's not in my experience.
Looking on the bright side I'm glad you recent hospitalization was a good experience and by all means see the pdoc who helped you. If he can't work with you perhaps he could recommend a pdoc?
Glad you are entertaining good choices
