Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Depression is an huge ugly monster that I cannot wrap my arms around. As quick as it goes, it comes back. Memory, or should I say, lack thereof. When I mention it to friends and family, they laugh and say that's not BP , that's life. They don't understand. Simple tasks that you do everyday, suddenly you don't remember how to do them.
It's only now, 5 years later, that I think it has finally sinking in. I am BP, and no matter how many meds I take or how good my doctor is, my BP is going to take up a great deal of my life.
I am lucky - I have a 13 year-old son (have to brag - he returned last week from the Junior Olympics in
Colorado. He's a freestyle skiier and qualified for the Halfpipe) I have a great boyfriend that I have dated for 2 years, and very supportive parents. Even with all of my blessings, I still spend a good part of my life swinging from mania to depression.
