Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I told my boyfriend right off the bat. He told me last night that I'm still a hell-u-va lot less crazy than his exes. That made me feel okay, I guess. But I still had a middle-of-the-night anxiety attack and could feel my mind slipping away. I didn't "come back" til he said, "You know this is okay, right? It's okay to be like this." Half my anxiety was about him seeing me be anxious hahaha one in a million, this guy... one in a trillion really.
Good luck! Honesty gets you a lot farther IMO
As for when exactly to tell someone, I don't know. I've always been up front and honest about it....but that hasn't gotten me far. For me, I think that you'd do well to not tell right away and let this person get to know you for you. Everyone is a little quirky. When the time comes, you'll know.
I just think that by telling someone straight off the bat that you have BP is defining yourself as such. And i know that you are so much more than just an illness.
Good luck.
