I would probably lose it after an hour bc they shouldn't have scheduled me at that time if they weren't planning on seeing me within that time frame. But I guess it depends bc if it was a specialist I would probably be more understanding and just grateful I would be able to see one with having only medicaid.

That's kind of what I was telling myself while I was waiting.

It's hard to say a specialist has many things thrown at them they can't plan for...

Some of them are terrible with respecting YOUR time... My GP is like this...I just love her... She's a dear but you wait....I always ask for the first appt of the afternoon and I'll wait for it however long it takes.. It's annoying

Bullshit. They are there for US! I will wait 45 min. max. Then I tell the receptionist to reschedule me for another time because I can't wait any more. My old pdoc was notorious for keeping me waiting. Sometimes up to an hour. So I told him it was a waste of my time, I could be doing something else. So from now on I will show up 1/2 after my scheduled appointment. He was ok w/that!!!

The only time I tolerate it is if they tell me by phone or in person that he is running late because he had an emergency.

Neurologists are the worst at making patients wait. I waited 3 hours before being seen by my guy and his son and my son were best buddies back then! So much for having an in! lol

He was extremely thorough with all his patients so I was grateful he took the time with me.

I waited 9 hours in an ER waiting room once.

I started bawling and my friend took my arms and made me 'dance' like a puppet to the Day-O song from Beetlejuice so I'd cheer up.

In a doctor's office, an hour is towards the far end of normal wait time. My mum will complain after 15 minutes if she's with me.

It all depends if I'm there for the pdoc or tdoc. If it's just a therapist appointment, I won't feel like talking after 30 minutes of waiting and annoyance, so I'd leave. If I'm out of my medicine, I'll stay however long because a rescheduled appointment can be weeks off.

The longest I ever waited was at my Eye Dr's.

ERs are different. You could spend all day in there!! I was in for 6 hours when I had my car accident. Geez....can't they just give you something for the pain first and then make you wait?
I found out that if you're bleeding from any part of your body they will take you right away! So bring a vial of blood with you!

I used to work for a practice of neurologists and neurosurgeons. A couple of them were always 2 hours behind. That was just rude.

I'll wait for about 15 minutes before I will ask if they forgot me. Then I'll wait about a total of an hour unless like what was said already, I need meds. It takes a month to get in to see my pdoc.

I understand how Dr.'s can be late. Patients sometimes make appointments for one thing then when they get there they want to talk about a lot of other things bothering them. Even so, the Dr. shouldn't run consistently late though. It's just not right. Even if you are on Medicaid. They should respect our time too. They expect us to be on time for our appointment, so they should be on time for us.

I waited 4 hrs when I checked myself into Carrier Clinic. I called told them I was on my way. When I got there, they forgot to tell the intake nurse about me.

Finally Mike walked up to the desk and they couldn't find my name anywhere.

The reason why we waited so long is because the first time I went there was a long wait as well, but when we started to see ppl being called to the desk after we got there, that's when he walked to the desk.

The longest I have waited at the docs. is 30 minutes. They have a policy where if you have to wait for longer than 30 minutes then you can complain. My P.Doc. is always pretty much on time. If I go to orthopaedics I can wait for up to two hours, which is fine by me because they have a lot of emergencies to deal with.

I ran into the program JUST to see the pdoc as I was honoring an already established appointment, and he was an hour late! He apologized but said, "You know, things come up." WHAT?! Yeah, like my appointment an hour ago......LOL!

You people are lucky! I don't have a gp and I have to go to a clinic for the poor. Even for a painful infection I have waited up to 3 hours because making another appt. will take a month to 6 weeks. I don't have that luxury. Be aware that people such as myself in the US are poor and they have these unity clinics where you wait and wait. It's a scheduled appt. but no matter I bring my knitting and make scarves.
