Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Just got back from my cooking course at the outreach program and we made several meals. The two student nurses running the course are leaving in a few weeks so I talked to a nurse about continuing it throughout the year. Cost is a major factor for people not signing up...$30 for 7 meals where they can get free meals a couple times a week at the program but the food is crap and many need to be watching their diets...diabetes, high blood pressure and chorestral is what a lot of them have. So I suggested that we use available food from the food bank as many people go there once a month. She thought that was a great idea. It just popped into my head. I don't know why just did. That would cut down on the price of the course which seemed to be a major factor in people not signing up. She wants me to lead it but has to first run it by the co-ordinator for the program. I am really excited and I hope it's a go. I love working with groups of people and cooking together can be so much fun and at the end of it people will have a nutritious meal they can take home and eat and a recipe using stuff they get from the food bank each month.
I am so proud of myself for thinking of that...I really hope it can work as I know a lot about nutrition and love to cook and at some point if I can I want to be a peer counsellor with the hospital. This would look great on my resume.
J............that sounds like a lovely idea. Very cost effective. Good luck with it. I wish I were the kind of cook like I used to be. I used to enjoy cooking. Now it's like a chore that I don't wanna do.
Sorry you're bored with the board. I feel like taking time off from it sometimes but it's hard. We'd miss you if you left though. You're like the glue that holds us all together.
As for me, just saw my shrink. He's hopeful the Parnate, an MAOI AD, will work. I also have decided to make better life choices and change things up. Can't just depend on the pills, I've decided but I do need them. And now I am drinking a dark cherry mocha from Starbucks and chilling on DS. Have a great day. Peace and hugs.
I'm getting ready to go camping this weekend. All packed, got do a couple of chores, the off to Big Bear!!!
Quacked...........HAVE BIG FUN, my friend. Good Fishing?
I am sitting in class waiting for it to start....I am about to fall over onto the desk and fall asleep.
I'm doing alright today. My hormones have turned me into a total bitch, but eh. I'm keeping it under control - actually handling it very well. I had an ultrasound today and things look good.
I ran a bunch of errands, but did nothing fun. I have more errands tomorrow - of course. My errands today were ultrasound, therapy, pick up meds, and call the insurance company about a crazy bill from my pdoc's office.
