Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

We all have different opinions on this but since I have had destructive mania with mixed episodes the final mood stabilizer that works excellently for me is Equetro. The first few weeks are hard because it sedates and makes you feel like your walking like a drunk, but that will subside within a month. They want your level to be in between 4-12. I have been all the way up and find 11& 12 levels to over sedate me. Finally they agreed ( due to me proving to them I was using DBT skills to help manage) to lower me to between 8-10 level. It works wonderfully! It's almost like you have to bargain with them to let you try out different strengths to see what works.
Good luck..I am sure you will find your match :)
Finding the right med, the right dosage, the right combo can seem daunting !
The average time to find the right combo is 7 years.
Most of us have gone through this up and down, round and round trip, to find stability.
It's worth it to keep trying !
The clonidine is a blood pressure med but it gets me to sleep along with the Trazodone in 20 minutes.
The Prazosin is also a blood pressure med, but it stops the night terrors most of the time.
I think the answer is that it is trial and error with the proviso that the person sticks with the medication for at least a few months andf doesn't undermine their workings through drink or street drugs.
Blessings to all of you,
