For me it would be fear I think...Isn't that awful? I'm afraid that if I don't work on myself, take my meds, go to my groups, therapy, pdoc...I think I'll end up dead or drunk/high which would = prison/hospital/dead. I fear these things for my kids, my mom, and my husband.
My dad did both - stopped working on himself and relapsed on meth and killed himself within a matter of months, after 7 years clean. I know what his suicide did to me and I don't want to do that to my loved ones.
Maybe a nice dose of fear is a good thing for me. I'd like to say that my faith inspires me to keep on keepin on, but I think fear wins out on this one.

Mom and I have errands to run this morning. She said we can get sushi for lunch though. I go back to work today. What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Quick, before the evil MONday gets here! Let's climb those mountains, dance in the meadows, dip our feet in the ocean....Okay, so most of us won't be doing any of That. Sadly. But today can still be a great day!The area behind our back fence is on an incline, with less than two feet on even ground at the top. I don't balance well enough for the incline, but our mower guy mows that...

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. My brother had a meth addiction for years it put our family through hell. He has been clean now 8 yrs. I guess you're never really free from addiction no matter how long you've been clean.
blessedgirl, i am so sorry for your pain.
so i stick around. but the moment he's gone, i'm done. i feel dead inside already so it's just a matter of sealing the deal.
is it bad that that's the only thought i have that gives me joy?
i have no kids, no pets, no partner.......kinda' ideal for my getaway and i wonder if i did all this subconsciously just so i'd leave minimal damage behind?
nice sfagrad. very, very nice!
and no, I have not ever really mentioned that to anyone, so hush-hush
"Basically, I want the people who think I am a good, strong person who can overcome this to all be right."
Yeah, my husband and my mom both actually stillllll think that, and I guess that could truly inspire me to keep going if I can really internalize the thought. Thank you for that.
minitaro, I don't think all my chances have been by chance either. I need to remember to be grateful on a more moment-by-moment basis.
