what does fish oil do?

I have noticed that some people use fish oil as treatment. What is it for? how much do you take etc.

combat depression..be careful too much can cause a manic episode...

if you are on meds talk to the doctor first...because if you are already on an antidepressant it can mess you up

every takes different amounts...it usually takes a month to feel the effects of a small dose

A recent well controlled research study published found that fish oil mimics Lithium, in growing new nerve cells in areas of brain usually affected in BP (frontal cortex), area invovled in memory and emotion. For therapeutic levels, you might want to consult a doc.
I ahve never heard any side effects.

make sure that it is molecularly distilled fish oil. take at least 1000 mg/day.

i'm not sure i just googled it...

but it makes sense...if you take anything that is an anti-depressant in too high of a dose, it can bring on mania

I take 3000mg a day. It seems to help a little bit with the depression.

I've actually noticed that if I take more than 1000mg a day, that my emotions get all wacky, and sometimes I get a little more irritable. Probably because I also take 5-HTP, which is an anti-depressant.

Also, make sure you get the enteric coated capsules....no fishy aftertaste or burps.

BUMP< more info please, i take flax seed oil with fish oil. how much is too much of either?

You also need to be aware of any vitamins that might be in those oils, like E, A, and any other oil soluble vitamins, because you can get toxic on those, too.

I take fish oil in presciption form for my cholesteral. Have not noticed any difference in my mental health issues. But it brought my cholestral for 338 to 183 in 3 months

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
