what age were you diagnosed?

I'm 46, and just diagnosed. I'm not on medication yet, does this seem overwhelming to a lot of people upon diagnosed?

I was around 35-36. Two young children and married 10-11 years at that time.

It's way too long to explain the entire lead up to dx but it took a few years to get all my "signs" lol together. Anyway, I was overwhelmed and devastated initially.

I am a BP1 rapid cycler and getting meds right proved to be a bit of a challenge but it is what it is... whether someone is or isn't on meds it takes commitment to do the footwork to help keep as "stable" as possible.

I was depressed since I was 6. Never got any help. It was tough being the oldest of 10. I was finally Dia. when I was 50, I'm 64 now. It took a while to get my meds in line. Now I am on 9 meds and show very little emotion. I have bi-polar 1 rapid high mania disorder. And cannot sleep without Ambien, lost my drivers license because of it. I thought I could never cry again, then I watched,"The Passion of the Christ," the other night and oh my gosh! I cried harder than a baby!! So there are feelings deep inside, the meds just keep them supressed (sp).
