The biggest joke is, yes the mhority of the planet get intoxicated on alcohol..but you make your researchers sound as if they are all for you to hit the end of that road quicker thatn your meant to.

Yes...there is one thing I agree with that did come up with...and that is, it is an inviduals choice to do so....but then is it not an individuals choice on whether or not they want help???

done it been there... to say i still do it sometimes... i feel like it helps me go to sleep when nothing else will work... i know not the best thing but i mean what else can i do? My drs wont give me my meds because she says theres other ways around it.. FINE.. ill find my own ways lol..

I refuse to say that and use that as a means of a way to go to sleep. I have already seen what it has done to me and I will not let it make me any worse. I look at the two little beings I have created and that I am now responsible for in this world who need me to be at my best and I cannot jeopardize my brain any more than I already have. Research shows, even as recently as this month, that marijuana, contributes to the worsening of bipolar and other psychotic conditions. Why would I want to further the progress anymore just for a little sleep when eventually my body will figure it out? I am learning to deal and cope. That is half the battle of this bipolar - coping. I have learned that the anxiety is sometimes self-induced and I can control it. These are all things to be worked on. garybecca, my point is, if you can get yourself on the right meds, I also suggest therapy sessions as I have done. They have been a great benefit to me and my family. I have made strides above and beyond what I never ever could have imagined even just a year ago. Things just as simple as going to a busy grocery store with my children - I can do that now without panicking. Hiding behind self-medication never confronts any of that and you will forever be a prisoner of your own brain. Please think about these things.

It helps me sleep, but as with everything, MODERATION is the key.

When I was studying the effects of different drugs on people, there was a picture of a brain on weed. It was a chronic smoker. His brain looked like the lungs of a chronic smoker. it was black and apparently it makes everything slow down- like from one nerve cell to the next. It must really mess up psychopharmaceuticals because they mainlly work by slowing down or speeding up or somehow regulating how neurotransmitters are used by the brain. There were some other interesting things and is well worth looking into the research if you would like to be an educated consumer.

Smoked hard for years and ended up antisocial and paranoid. Basketcase when i didn't have any. Many others have gone down that road and have found it doesn't work in the long term.
