Are you loading up on fluids? I vote going to an urgent care also but I did go to the ER last weekend and they gave me fluids because I was dehydrated.

it has been a week Id go with the urgent care too. ER if urgent care is not open ............screw what they think they are not paid to judge you they are paid to make you feel better. ok lets change paid to employed ;)

It is not good if you are dehydrated either......and its actually dangerous if you are dehydrated and on medications.

hi, I seem to remmber you've gone on a new med? Wasn't it lithium?

check the insert - you may find flu like symptoms as being something you need to get urgent attention - I can't check right now but it might well be.

or it can be flu but if it is on the list that you "must inform your doctor immediately" then please do so.

lithium will often give you major nausea (drink a glass of water) and the shakes. It passes so if that's what you are getting it's standard side effects which should pass.

ok, found this - you can get lithium toxicity at anytime - (I hope you had blood work done before you went on it and they are doing regular bloodwork)

ACUTE TOXICITY

After taking too much lithium you will have symptoms such as:

Diarrhea
Dizziness
Nausea
Stomach pains
Vomiting
Weakness

just to add you can have blurred vision, fatigue, nausea, shakes without it being toxicity...

I um... Stopped the Lithium. Unfortunately. I didn't intend to do so. I forgot to take a couple of doses, then intentionally skipped my morning dose on Thanksgiving because I thought it might be contributing to my sickness, then just sort of didn't know when or if I should start back on it again.

But I read online that it only causes problems if it's in higher concentrations than normal, not "not enough". Also my friend told me I got him sick after he left my house so I'm guessing and hoping it isn't the lithium.

I know that sounds so bad. I'm going to schedule an appointment with Viewpoint Outpatient Services and talk with a doctor about both resuming the Lithium and probably upping the dose, too.

My symptoms now are mostly sleeping spells, dizziness, and heart palpitations, I think. Not really life-threatening I don't feel, but definitely annoying. Still the flu feeling too, and throat soreness.

I felt kind of similarly last month too, when I wasn't on any psych meds. I think my immune system is weak for some reason.

I got sick when I first went on it, like at 200mg - I got a bit sick everytime I upped the dose and went up to 800mg.

Only when I went to 1000mg by accident did I go toxic.

Normal side effects when you start aren't that much different from toxicity.
