The psychiatrist had his office at the top of a tall building and was
seeing a distraught patient. The patient became increasingly agitated and finally threw himself out the window. Just then a colleague of the psychiatrist came in and they went to the window to check on the patient. "Has he vertigo?" said the colleague. "No, he's almost there" replied the psychiatrist.
Since the primary purpose of this joke is to present the pun on the word vertigo we're left without knowing the diagnosis of the patient. Be assured that no actual persons were harmed in the telling of this joke.
I think it has to do with the meds I take...as my meds all cause dizziness and loss of a sense of balance and feeling off center.
I have never read of a connection between mental illness and vertigo..but that doesn't mean there may not be a connection.
