Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I don't know if this is the right forum for my question, but I couldn't find a more fitting forum...
So, my question is:
Can a manic episode just stop after 10 days, without any medication or anything like that? I'm diagnosed with bipolar II, and I refuse any mood stabilizers. So far it's worked ok; I have hypomanic episodes every now and then, but it's never got out of control. But, a while ago, I had a ten day episode of what landed at 28 points on the YMRS scale just like that, out of the blue. Then BANG! it just ended, without my having taken any meds whatsoever, and instead I took a dive... luckily, I didn't go that far down, and it didn't last for very long either (about a day or so of 'proper' depression, which then wore off successively over the subsequent week).
Anyway, what I'm wondering is simply: is this possible?? Can a 'proper' manic episode just blow over by itself??? And in only 10 days???
Any thoughts, experience, knowledge whatever! would be *greatly* appreciated!!!
Hugs to all!!!

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

Re it coming out of the blue - actually good term - I find I get that this time of year and I think it's something to do with the low sun on clear blue sky days.
I'd still *greatly* appreciate more thoughts on this though :)
