Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

My moods have been all over the place recently. One second I'm happy, then the next crying, then angry, and finally happy again. I know that this sounds typical, but I've been taking all of my medications. I don't know what to do.

In a previous post you said you'd just gotten out of In patient and were taken off some meds. If that's still the case it takes time for your brain to adjust to changing, removing, starting psych meds, their different than other meds. Also adjusting, learning coping skills, using coping skills and the nature of depression can cause mood swings. It can take a while for everything to get in sync and even out.

How long though. My doctors say that everything should be working just fine by now, but it's not.

How are things in your life going? Stable? Unstable? Meds are only a small part of it. What kind of stress are you under?

I haven't been under much stress besides for a concussion and the fact that my parents keep twisting my mental stability around and changing it into something about them.

It's actually not usual to be changing moods from one moment to the next.... This might be med related?.... I would see you doc and discuss what you're experiencing.... Big hug.....xo

meds usually take 4-6 weeks to get into your system. coming out of hospital, getting re=stabilized by into natural home, can take anywhere from a few days to a few months...depending on how you were when you went in, length of time sick, and number of symptoms. Got ya about the 'oh poor me' and reversal/twisting....all I can suggest is to use "I" statements. Find emotional support outside of family...google your town and look up mental health groups...best of luck!

I talk to my doctor about my mood changing so rapidly, and they mention me being bipolar II.

It's been about three weeks on these new medications. I'm going back to my doctor soon
