3 1/2 weeks ago, I had a serious discussion with my Mom regarding the amount of rent that I was paying. Essentially, it came down to, I am going to move out...you can take $700/month for the next year or I will keep it all and move out sooner. She said she had to think about it.
Today, the day before pay day, she asks how much I'll b paying in rent. I tell her $700. She asks about next month. I say $700. She asks for how long do I plan on paying only $700. I say "until I move out". She says that she "will have to see how that's going to work".
The fact that she remembered enough to ask how much I'm paying tomorrow tells me that she remembers the conversation. The fact that she has not said a single word to me about the issue since that day tells me that she was hoping I would forget (since my brain is shot since ECT).
Seriously though? What is there to think about or see how it goes? $700 or nothing. That's the deal. I don't know that I'm asking anything... just wondering how she can't see the obvious solution to her money problem.

Stand your ground, I would have just paid enough for utilities and food.... if your mom can't afford her place, she needs to find something else so she can afford it on her own....

When I got married she got pissed at the lack of income. Didn't talk to me for months and still blames me for her losing her house. My sister never paid a dime, plus my mother had a retirement and disability check.
Save your money. My husband and I live in a tiny one bedroom house with no closets but it's only $300 a month. There are 2 and 3 bedroom trailers for rent around here for $400 a month with utilities. Look around.
I think she really is up a creek now that my steploser has stopped giving her money and hasn't paid the mortgage, but I told her that I couldn't hold the house up anyway, even if I gave her more.
So, hopefully, it doesn't become a hostile environment while I'm saving up....but me and my kids are getting the hell out of here ASAP.
Wow .... I'm speechless that your mom would treat you this way. Good luck to you as you stash your cash to make a dash. :)
