Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
it can feel like crap being without a job especially while actively looking. I was filling out up to 5 aps a day and not getting a response. keep focused on your goal and keep trying. hope it comes around for you soon.
but if you don't think your bipolar, and the meds were wrong - why do you think WE, bipolar people - now "how long this is going to last?" Not that anyone is the same, and there is no magic answer....
I'm totally confused.... you either think you have a mood disorder or not....
I think a proper diagnoses will help pick a direction, whether its meds or therapy. Being overwhelmed looking for a job, stress anyone out - that and divorce, death and MOVING, the top 3 life stressors - well, unless your bipolar and like moving,( like me ) *Big Grin*
Maybe her original diagnosis was not bipolar & now is bipolar. How many of us in the group did not have a "correct" dx or meds???
The post is coherent enough for me. Feeling like a failure is something that I think everyone on this board has experienced. Effing bipolar brings one to their knees sooner or later!!
Getting skills, especially organizational & executive skills are very important to stay marketable and employed.
Maybe the local office of employee development or vocational rehab can help. Try contacting them for your area.
Alliegator---I wish you all the best. Don't give up. Maybe med change?? ((((hugs))))
good thought.
still waiting for OP.. think I may go watch a movie now.
My remark is basically, we're not all wrong or bad - we have other members that don't think their bipolar, I do not have an issue with that - but my remark was because she always mention is the wrong dx and meds, not just this once....
I do understand the stress, and even confusion of dx being right or wrong... I'm just uncomfortable always pointing out its wrong....
No worries! Support, I offer support no matter if she is bipolar or not - job search sucks!
I am more interested in the dx.. whats up with that?
psych science is a flawed one.. if you aren't treated for bp and you are bp that is bad.. if you are something else and not treating it..that is bad. not for nothing but half the battle is finding out what the actual dx is and accepting it.. then proper treatment comes next if you so choose. but not knowing, not doing anything..that would make a mess.
Cover letters--You can get templates online to help you. You might want to try a couple of rough drafts.
Write a list of what you are good at and what you like to do. Match your skill set with what you might want to do and see if there are jobs that connect to that in some way.
Staffing agencies are awesome.
With this economy, Lord knows how long any job will last or any length of employment. :-C
As for mental health concerns, keep trying. Research a good psychiatrist and therapist and see if a different diagnosis from whatever you were diagnosed can be made. Treatment takes time.
Thank you agian for posting with us and I deeply hope that you have a great day.

Keep trying with the job applications. :-D
