Told to Stop my Meds.

So I've been on this roller coaster for a while. It's been about 8 months I've been out of work and on BP meds.

I've of course plummeted(sp?) into financial ruin, and called a family member who always says "If there's ever anything I can do, please don't hesitate to ask", and I asked for a small amount of financial help.

She said she would help (though she most definitely wasn't happy about it) and went on to say how I should get off of all of my medications b/c I thought more clearly before I started them.

Is it me? Or isn't the meds for the fact that I wasn't thinking clearly at all? blah. She made me sad.

Remember, you asked for financial help, not medical advice. I would leave that up to my pdoc. Some people think if they help you out they have the right to tell you how to run your life. Sometimes, its not worth the help. If you really need the financial help and don't mind taking it, just ignore what she says.

It's just so sad that at this point, each and every person who has used that same exact phrase "If there's ever anything I can do...." has either not been there when I asked or has criticized me for my life and the way it's going.

there is no way i could come off all my meds i would be a basket case..meds are there to help us and that is the doctors judement not her's..please talk to your doctor before stopping any meds..love terri

I stopped my meds because of bad side effects. IF I could find something that would help and not have the side effects I would take it in a minute At least give them a chance. Espec if your side effects aren't bad.

My side effects were bad too.For some reason they DO go away.I was stupid and mad enough to think it was the illness, that's all.

i don't know ... before i was put on lamictal, i was miserable. miserable, for years. and really dysfunctional.

some people will never get that.

i get VERY irritated with those people who aren't bipolar or otherwise mentally ill who go on about meds being over-prescribed, blah blah blah "oh anybody can get on an antidepressant these days."

i heard that at work the other day and it's just such bullshit.
