Does anyone have any helpful info that they wouldn't mind sharing with me on either the ticket to work or working while on SSDI??

I'm going stir crazy and was thinking about checking into these things and would like to get as much info as I can before I do. Thanks! ox

I don't, but good luck, Debs. Keep bumping the post up for a day or so, because I know there are those here who are working, or have worked, part-time while on SSDI; I just don't remember Who, lol.

i found a service provider (it's explained on the site) through WIPA - ticket to work and the trial work period are administered through these non-profits. http://ssa.gov/work/wipafactsheet.html

the basic run down:
you have 9 mos to work a job where you can earn as much as you want with no maximum cap (for example - I taught and made a several thousand monthly)

if you make less than $750/mo (don't quote me on that, but it's around there) it doesn't count against your 7 mo trial work period.

after that 7 mos, you can make a max of $1,000.mo and keep your benefits.

there's more info about the health insurance part but you can getthe specifics through your WIPA service provider.

What I was told directly from SS was you can work 9 months working and making whatever you want, after 9 months you will be reviewed to see if you are still completely disabled and are unable to work (because they are thinking if you have just worked for 9 months then you no longer need to be on disability, because that is the reason you are on it, because you are deemed completely unable to work) After being reviewed they can either a. deem you still disabled or b. deem you not disabled anymore and your benefits stop. If you were deemed still disabled you can work 3 months more, and then your benefits stop.

My tdoc told me that it goes as a mark against you if you go back to work and don't think you can wean off SS and go back to work full time. Disability means that you cannot work at all and going back to work is saying that you can work. If you pass the review at 9 months,it might be likely that you wont pass a future one.
