Thinking about getting a part-time job.

Yesterday my son and I went to SSA to apply for benefits for him because he has Aspergers ADHD.  While I was there I asked about my self getting a part-time job.   It turns out it does require special permisson.  All I would do is get a job and tell them, etc.


I hated not being able to work.  It has been years since I worked last.  It would be scary at first getting out there and working again.  I will take baby steps into going back.  Rushing into it could be a shock to the system.


I'm going to look up organizations that help people with disables get work.

Good luck thinking through the possibilities. Putting on another one of De Bono's colorful thinking hats... What will be the likely obstacles for you? These become your opportunities to improve your experience. Looking to people with experience in the area lets you find out about other peoples stories and see options, getting ideas. Seeing how they overcame difficulties etc. That's a great approach.

? Are you still looking for a place to move into with just you and your son....BRS can help you find employment and can also help you if you want to go to college or get other types of training. Best of Luck Jenn!!!

What is BRS? I am still wanting to move into a place for just my son and me. Having a part-time job to earn a little more money can help me accomplish this goal.

Glad your looking at part-time Jenn. I went back to full time after 8 years - what was I thinking - but I was working for a friend - and I still couldn't hack it. Symptoms came back and I was a mess. Kicked off my depression of all things. I don't think I'll ever work a full-time job again in my lifetime. Sad because career to me was huge - my identity - until i started getting sick in 2010. There is a service locally called "supported employment" that is specifically for people with mental health disabilities. Don't know if your state has it but its been helpful for many. I think that getting a job is a good idea. I did it after not working for around 10 or so years and it took me a long time to get the courage to do it. I think you working with a group who helps with disabilities is a good idea. Good luck to you.

    I've been on high dose prednisone for pneumonia, and now I am slowly weaning. But lots of symptoms I don't like having, plus overeating has put at least 10 lbs on me. The food is "loud" as the GLP-1 users refer to it.Also pressured speech. Which comes out in my posts. Sorry I posted so much. I just need an outlet for my agitated and irritable brain. Just scroll on by my posts, if they are too...
