Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Do you find that when you go through an episode or a particularly difficult time, and then start to come out of it...it makes you emotional?

Life has been really hard this past year. I'm really feeling down and alone. I can't talk to my family about my depression and anxiety their not very understanding about it. It's really hitting me since my mother passed a few months ago, plus stress from having to eventually move. Also having my niece coming around who suffers bipolar and refuses to take medication for it. Its been...
I try to experience it with as few words as possible. My favorite meditation visual for it is the folklore of "The Phoenix Rising." That is a multi-cultural myth and sometimes I use the mythology of other cultures, just to keep it fresh. I have been through the fires of my psychosis and am rising anew. I do not need to analyze every ash I shake from my renewed feathers as I rise, nor do I need to inventory and name every feather of my renewal. I simply rise and let the ashes fall where they may. Metaphorically speaking, of course.
In short, yes, that makes sense, but I'll be jiggered if I can find adequate verbiage for the sense it makes. Sometimes words just aren't enough.
