Since my son has become more and more ill with some sort of mental illness (either childhood BP or schizophrenia), they signed us up for the ACT Team.
It's a group of Social Workers, a pdoc, and a nurse. The tdocs come to my house once or twice a week. It makes me so anxious....to no end. I'm afraid that they're judging me, my parenting skills, my home...and I'm terrified that they're going to try to take my kids away b/c i'm just not good enough...and my home is messy. Not that I don't try to clean it up for them.
But what do I do? I want my son to have every service possible to help him. But I just can't stand having these people in my home. What should I do? Please???

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

If you have things that are a health hazard, rat droppings, rotting food, bare wires etc that is a different matter.(and I've been in a few of those too).
My suggestion would be to perhaps have a word about your concerns with the social worker when you start to build a relationship with them.
Intuition tells me for a variety of reasons the team would probably prefer your son to remain in the family home - one reason why they are coming to you.
I can totally relate to where you are coming from. The other day when my depression was descending into the pit of hell, my new therapist suggested a mobile crisis unit. I nixed that idea, because first, I was not at the crisis point yet, second, I don't want strange people in my home, and third, my home was disgusting.
If an ACT team is what your child really needs, is there some way you can get help cleaning your home? Or, can you take your child to a hospital or mental health center to get the services he needs?
Hugs,
Christa
I appreciate your reassurance acf. My tdoc reassured me too....but it makes me so uncomfortable having people in my house.
I do want my son to get everything he needs. It's just so hard to allow these people into my home....and it's really not THAT bad. It's just a little messy and i can clean it up. I'm just afraid that doing my best isn't good enough.
