ah, the love of an animal. nothing quite like it in the world. i don't know how mankind got so lucky as to receive all that we do from our animals...and it's unconditional...so wonderful.

Awww I'm so glad that you made this post, pagan. My childhood dog that I had from the age of 10 to earlier this year (even though I've been moved out for to years) helped my through many really tough times. She's the reason why I made it through the stuff that my dad and stepmom pute through. We rescued her from the pound and they said that if she hadn't been rescued in another two weeks, that they would've put her down. We originally named her Matilda, but then soon after, we started to call her Mattie for short and it just stuck, so we never called her Matilds anymore lol. She was a black lab mix, not the smartest dog around, but she sure was the sweetest, never met a stranger. I use to volunteer at a nursing home and I'd take her over there sometimes to visit the patients, they loved her too. She was my girl.

My dog brings me so much comfort and joy. I try not to ever take her for granted bc if something happened to her I have no idea how I would make it through. She lifts me up when I'm feeling down and makes me keep my mind off myself a lot.

Thanks joneszy93 for sharing. When I was young one of our dogs was literally saved from being put down. A guy my dad worked with was upset at work about this cute dog he knew going to be put down because the owners we pieces of shit and abused her. So my dad intercepted her on the way to the vets and brought her home. One of the best pets we had.

Nester I know what your talking about. My cat seems to know when Im sad and comforts me.

I love all my pets. They lift my spirits and make me laugh. Some people who don't own any pets think I'm crazy for having so many but they don't know what they are missing.

I'm glad you shared that PaganSpirit and I know exactly what you mean. I get that from my cat Moose. I'll wake up in the middle of the night and look down, he is laying in the crook of my arm and looking up at me with pure love. It's a beautiful thing to see and to feel.
Then there's Sparky who is a chicken shit dog and he'll look up at me with questioning eyes "is it ok mommy?".
Animals make me glad to be alive. I wish I could take in all types from cats to dogs, to wolves, coyotes, deer....the list goes on.

There have been a few times where my cat has literally saved my life. I couldn't bear knowing that if I suddenly wasn't here anymore, no one could explain anything to him. He's such a good boy, and he lets me smooch on him even when he's not in the mood :)

Dobie, your welcome. I know what you mean about the pets that are scared of everything. They do give you that look like " I'm scared and what are you going to do to protect me." Our pets talk to us in their own way, we just need to know how to listen. I too love all animals and wish I could have more pets. For me, I will leave the wolves, coyotes, etc in the wild and admire them in their natural environment.

Animals are my passion! Our two petfamily members are a cat and dog -- they know when you're feeling down or up, what to provide if anything besides love. Unconditional love. The best kind.

I probably talk more to my dog and cat than I do my husband. I can't help but imagine they understand MUCH of what I'm saying.
