Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I was in a Cognitive therapy group when I was first diagnosed and it made a huge difference in how I felt... It was really great.... Big hug.... I hear you sweetie.....xo
Put me in a new situation on my own, and I do the exact same thing of counting down the time until I can leave. I love going to church, but get freaked out going alone and people asking questions. I prefer to sit in the back, listen, and sing. And in social situations, I can be more than awkward.
Suncloud has great advice! I'm right there with you!
Prayers for strength and peace!
There are a few people I really enjoy talking to, but I'm uncomfortable around most people. I constantly worry about what the other person is thinking, berate myself for my many errors in articulating what it is I'm trying to say, and because my anxiety causes my brain to freeze, often struggle to think of even the most basic things to say.
Research indicates exposure is the best way to reduce anxiety, but it's pretty difficult to force ourselves into situations we know are going to be unpleasant. I have found it helpful to set small goals and start with situations that aren't quite as anxiety provoking, and work my way up as I become a bit more comfortable. That said, we certainly don't need to set such goals. Sometimes the best thing we can do is be more accepting of who we are as people rather than constantly trying to better ourselves. It's tough to find the right balance between acceptance and change!
