I've exhausted all the other meds I'm able to take as mood stabilizers. Tegretol is the last one.

Can anyone please tell my their experiences on it? Side effects, changes in mood, better, worse?

Of course if the pdoc says to take it I will...but I just want to be a little more informed about it in advance.

Hi Hannah..I have taken most meds out there..the usual, years on lithium etc...Have taken tegretol since early 20's. Has been a good mood stabiliser for me, worked very well holding mania at bay. It's kinda hard to break down which meds whacked you out which way, over time.
Do know I was tired, early on...& (isn't it the way with all meds?)..think it eased up though.
However, have epileptic friend who takes far more than me & doesn't seem the worse for wear..which is heartening.
I really like this med & credit it with some of my more stable times.
Also, as this is what everyone tends to ask- no, didn't put on weight with it x
