Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Stopping meds cold turkey, especially Psych Meds is a very hard thing to do and it takes a while for your brain/body to get back to normal. You also have the issue of Pain to deal with. I also understand that you are at a new job and you don't want to jeopardize it. The thing is, you can't "exist" in the state your in....
Going to the ER might get you some help with all of the stuff your going through. It doesn't mean you'll get put in the hospital, just means you might get some relief, you don't know until you try. Its all up to what you're willing to do.
One thing I do know and know very well, is you can't exist and manage the BP symptoms with no medication. There are many of us that deal with multiple serious Medical Illnesses in conjunction with the Mental Illness....and our Pdocs don't just strip our meds and leave us hanging in the wind....
As for the steroid injection in your back, if you've not gotten noticeable pain relief in the past and they've made you more irritable, I'd not chance it when you have know medication for your Mental Health...I don't think it's safe to chance it. I know you don't like the ER, but they could check your heart, and a hospital Pdoc could evaluate you and perhaps give you a med that's safe for you to take, at least for the anxiety/irritability your dealing with right now, just a thought.
Take care,
Kat
