Hey guys,
Was wondering if anyone has had symptoms of tardive dyskinesthia??

I am currently dealing with mouth puckering/grimacing??

What med made it happen? And....did the pdoc take you off the med because of it?

I know it's not a good thing to have happen. My Geodon is the culprit, even at the low dose of 40mg/day. And, I only started taking it again on 12/29.

Hey Tats,

If you are starting to get TD, then got off of the Geodon ASAP. If you don't go off of it, the symptoms will become worse and most likely permanent.

Wow, that's awful, I'm sorry to hear about that. Have you called your doc yet? It seems like Geodon is supposed to be such a low risk drug for TD...but from what very very little I know about TD, it's considered a very serious side effect and they take you off immediately. Have you been on other AP's before?

Yes, I've been on quite a few. And it is so hard for me to start a new med...i get all weird about it. I don't know what my options are going to be. I can't think of any AP's I've not been on.

No I don't take Fanapt. I actually take Seroquel XR, and have been on it for a year now with no issues, aside from weight gain (but Topamax once added halted it) I am at 800mg currently. Normally I was taking on average 600mg. I could not tolerate Geodon at all. I ended up in the ER with akathisia and tachycardia and they took me off it the second day I was on it.

I have heard of someone having an issue with Geodon, but this is kind of more severe and she was on it longer and at a higher dose:

Funny thing, I have heard of this being treated with - no kidding - another antipsychotic.. Clozaril.. because of how it works on something, it is odd but supposedly it really does actually work if it is bad.

hi , as the others have said , yeah you need to get off geodon immediately. my culprit was abilify. sorry i can't remember what the med was that pdoc prescribed to counteract tk. it is serious though and such a horrible sensation when it happens. i do know though that it is not as obvious as it feels to oneself. my sister also had it from abilify and it went away by itself as soon as she stopped. hope this is of some help.
