Hi Everyone,
I hope that you are all preparing yourselves for the onslaught of emotional challenges which this time of the years tend to bring.
My daughter and baby arrived Sat am from London. I expected that I would see her over the weekend, but she said that she was going to visit those who work during the day and see me on Monday. It was a jolt. I told her that I was disappointed, but that I understood. She thanked me. Texted her "Have a safe trip", and "Welcome home". Did not receive a reply to either. The thing that also hurts is that she is spending thanksgiving with her father, not that this is a surprise because he has a tradition of them visiting for a traditional holiday. I was never able to compete with this and I accept that traditions are important. I can't help assuming (I know that's not helpful) that he is on her weekend agenda as well.
This is extremely emotionally challenging for me. Compounding the situation is that I am in the middle of a major life change as I prepare to move in to weeks and I'm trying to keep a good perspective about the packing. I do have quite a bit of things to pack. In addition, I will be spending at least 6 weeks at BF"s because my settlement date for my new place is yet to be determined. So that complicates things too. (separate boxes for his place which must include seasonal clothing for CA where we will be visiting for a week in Dec).
My therapist did point out that because of the new beginning, perhaps one visit is sufficient.
I've increased my medication for anxiety because I don't want to become emotional and text something that I will regret like "Can't you make any time to visit today at all?"
Struggling and digging in deep for strength.
Thanks,
Elaine

You may recall I write that my sister and he husband were in an affair with my brothers wife. It's been almost a year. Mom last week asked me to invite my sisters boys to a birthday at my house for my brothers daughter. I was on my way to pick up the boys when my mom called and told me to turn around. Apparently my brother didn't know my nephews were coming and he was livid. I came home to a...

I agree with BB Bipolar the holidays can challenge us emotionally to the breaking point. Going with someone else's flow is hard. We think of ourselves as flexible but when it comes time to do that it is pretty tough to appear unruffled.
You and your daughter are finding a new path and that alone is a miracle. We are all challenged at this time of year to stay positive and to trust and believe. Love yourself and stay in the here and now. ((((( hugs))))) none of this is easy.
I can be full of dread when I sense things getting a little tense or mildly out-of-control (like holiday plans.) I would just ignore the dread monster and try to soldier on but now I've been confronting it head-on and challenging it's pessimism.
Why does seeing your daughter and grand baby on Monday get under your skin? Sometimes I'm actually relieved when plans get pushed back so I have a chance to get a little more ready and a little more prepared. And, you're going to see them tomorrow!!!! I'm excited for you!
