Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

How do you accept that the thing you wanted more than anything else may not happen? How do you go on with life and be happy and live? I feel like this bipolar has wasted my life away and destroyed things in my life. Even though I've been pretty stable for the past years, ALOT more stable than when I was a teen...it still is having its rippling effect into my present and future.
I'm angry at the bipolar and really don't know how to just get over it. I thought I was past this point of anger toward the bipolar but the older I get the more I see wasted time and missed opportunities. Its not over yet, but some things might be out of question because of it.
I try to look at the positive things that I can still do...but this one thing...I can't seem to let go. I need to go back to therapy, but that won't happen for another month. Thoughts? Am I just being ungrateful?

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

The feeling that your life has an uncontrollable force ....well , that is totally frustrating and causes a lot of anger.
I go through periods where I feel like I have made my peace with being bipolar...that I will never be the same vivacious person I once was..... and then I get angry all over again, when I feel the limitations my life has.
Maybe eventually we do get over the feelings of anger and frustration ?
I don't know the answer to that one
All the best to you

Still I keep on truckin. And find hope in bipolar peers that I'm not alone.

I think it's a natural reaction to any illness. I was angry when I had cancer and that interrupted my life for 4 years.
I try to do the best I can. I don't dwell on missed opportunities. This illness WILL always interfere in my life. I try to go with the flow.
Anger is a big waste of energy and it will ruin your day or week or life.

I find my anger is often driven by another healthy human emotion:
Fear.
What is the worst that will happen if you let this one thing go?
I hope you find some help in the answer.
Xx,

At times it's harder to accept the life that bipolar serves up. Sometimes
I am better at accepting it - but I don't rejoice in it ever.
I think at times when I feel angry I do look to try and be grateful. I also try to exercise or contact someone I can vent to.
I am glad you're going to have therapy - but maybe, since it doesn't start for a month or so, maybe this is a good opportunity to try and develop some coping skills (so you can mange with or without therapy.) My thing is that I keep on aspiring to be self sufficient when it comes to my ailment. I am grateful for the support group here - and for the NAMI meetings but I want to have the time and ability to share with people outside of bp. It's good you reached out. Peace, Mark
