Still have the twitches

I complained about spasms/twitches that started out of nowhere and had been going on for weeks and weeks and getting worse every day. My psyche now has me on 1mg ativan/day, 400mg Seroquel and 1mg of Cogentin. The cogentin's primary use is for parkinson's patients.

The seroquel and cogentin are doing their jobs. The ativan i quit taking because after the first couple days, it stopped having an effect. I dont know why benzos are not effecting me like they should. Im going to ask to go back on klonopin.. it was the best so far.

I cant believe the cogentin was working. Today instead of taking my cogentin in the morning i waited until almost 5pm to take it. HOLY CRAP was i twitching all day!! So looks like i will be keeping that med and taking it in the morning from now on.

crappy thing is we still dont know if my twitching is psychological or physical

My thought is that when it comes to tremors/twitching, the fault is due to a medication and the cogentin should help

I have tremors occasionally. I am pretty sure it kicks in with fatigue or extreme stress. It happened to me the other day at work. I nearly panicked but instead I just decided to accept it. I kind of shift gears with my body and just moved more slowly. I got a drink of water and ate a small snack. The tremors went away - and slowing down a little bit made me feel better. I still got my work done just a little bit more slowly.
I have had tremors from meds too. I was prescribed something way back to help with them - but I no longer take those meds.

I hope you find a good solution to the tremors - if they are drug induced or otherwise.

usually twitching or 'tardive dyskinesia' is a side affect of a med and should be stopped immediately to prevent it becoming permanent. the cogentin is just a med to stop it immediately but you need to know which of your meds is the culprit so you can stop taking it. abilify is a major culprit - i don'''t know about seroquel, check with your pharmacist or pdoc but youneed to stop what ever is causing it now rather than later.

It's probably the seroquel. I got tardive dyskinesia on seroquel after about 13 years at various different doses. Some docs feel the benefit of the drug outweigh the problems caused by the TD and that's why they just prescribe cogentin instead of yanking the problem med. I went off seroquel because I felt I was too young to be dealing with all that and am doing fine on another med.
