remember that scene from "the shining" when jack was carrying and axe and chasing his son in the snow through a shrub maze? I feel like this with my family many times. I'm treated like a slave and piggy bank by them. Yes, all work and no play does make jenny a dull girl.

Hi Jenn. Our two daughters have moved away to college and my husband works very, very long hours. Usually I am alone all day long until my 17 year old son who has Down syndrome comes home from school. Our girls work on weekends in their college town so they don't come home much at all and when they do, it's for a reason such as for me to do paperwork for them, or they need money, etc. I also pretty much only get calls from my two sisters when they need something, etc. So, I feel your pain. I don't know how old your family members are, but my advice would be to make it clear, in a calm, positive and unaccusatory manner, that you will be doing x, y and z and that other members of the family will need to take on the other responsibilities themselves and stick to your guns. Also, treat yourself as well as you would treat your best friend. If your best friend was over-stressed and feeling taken advantage of, you would stick up for him/her and treat her/him kindly. Try to turn your anger into something positive in takiing care of yourself more and maybe the others less. Also remember that no one can take advantage of you unless you let them. So don't let them get away with it anymore. Don't argue over it, stress over it or any of that. Lay down your new law (which is necessary for your self-preservation and sanity) and then calmy do your own thing. IF they have no clean clothes to wear, oh well. If they spend more than they have, sorry for them. Quit the slave job, keep up your fair share of the responsibilities and close the bank. good luck. ~~~Sarah

Wouldn't they get a shock if you changed? Be upset at first but then they would get used to it. Look after yourself first so then you can look after them but only as much as they need, not more. Good luck!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
