Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I recently read an article, where an ER nurse, said Nurses and even Lay People should be taught how to deal with people who are in psychiatric distress.....the same as CPR is taught ........do you suppose that trend would catch on (ha!)
So, whoever originally posted this associated STUPID with being in PSYCHIATRIC CRISIS. The fact that the vast majority of you not only agree, but joke and add more psychiatric medications, going as far as wishing for "an aerosol spray for the crazies and just be done with it". Do you realize that this is facebook and chances are that a mentally ill person will see this? They'd most likely be afraid of any paramedic if that event were to occur. Take some more patient care classes and don't joke about something like this on a public forum.
Chances are that someone will come back with something calling me crazy, but I had to say it.
Doesn't matter. Nobody outside of someone who has been through that or knowing someone who has is going to care anyway (on facebook, I mean).

I read your link, and it was shocking. I can take a joke, but it was so horrific. I wonder how many of those who commented are working on Master's degrees or Ph.d's or even any kind of post secondary degree, like many are doing in this forum? I think the stupid find the mentally ill stupid. Because they have probably never met anyone mentally ill, because the mentally ill were too afraid to say anything, for fear of being stigmatized
ive been called a lot of things, stupid has never been on that list.
hanna, loved your response. good stuff.
what is it that`s offending you? the image or the responses?
to me i saw that picture as a satire of blame culture and pharmaceutical greed; certainly not offensive.
i didn`t read the comments, but it doesn`t matter WHAT the subject is, someone somewhere will always have a comment or opinion that`s woefully ill-informed.
try not to get too worked up over it, idiots are everywhere, use them for entertainment! :D
