Does anyone know - if you have applied for SSI (or SSD, I'm not sure which....) and they send a letter asking you to choose a payee and bring them to the SS office..... but have not yet sent a determination letter... isn't that a little backwards? Or can she assume that she has been approved? Or do they just do things backwards and may still deny her?

Never heard of this. I was approved and the payee is me. Are they saying that you're not compitent to receive the monies yourself and you have to have someone to keep your money for you and be responsible for the spending of the money?

It's not me, it a friend. But yeah.. they are saying that she is not capable of handling the money herself.... she understands that but is confused because they haven't told her yet whether or not she has been approved....

They asked that when I was approved at the SS office (not through mail) and the pdoc who did the exam also asked if I was going to be the payee because I guess it seemed like I might not be considering how I was with money.. I am the payee though I do just sign over my checks to my husband anyways.

& it is for either (or both in whatever case) SSDI or SSI

It sounds like the SSI is approved, they just want to approve of the payee first (no criminal record)

Just to keep open a line of communication I would give my wife the place of payee. Anything to keep the communication going.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
