Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

These are a couple o' brief updates.
I finally gave in and applied for Social Security benefits... *sigh* It felt like a small failure on my part, but I also felt some relief of anxiety in admitting I can't just "get my shit together" pardon my French, on my own. My application status is pending so it's out of my hands for now, but even the most minimal monthly income along with Medicaid could be a life-saving help for myself and my family right now.
Lately I've been very ill and medicines are doing jack for me. The good and bad news is that I feel maybe it's just my tolerance making the pills do more harm than good, but I experience a myriad of symptoms I'm having trouble with brushing aside and forgetting about... A constant pressure in my noggin, a flu-like feeling, aching in my ribcage, chest, and back. It's exhausting to not only be immune to the pain-free powers of modern medicine, but to also not feel "okay" or "functional" save for occasion. This is also why I'm sort of relying on the SSI to work out, I'm guessing if I can be properly assessed and cared for on the regular, it'll all sort of pan out to where I'm at least able to make changes and mark improvement.
Tommorow I'll be turning 20 and hosting a humble mutual-friends gathering with my friend, since she's only a day my junior, looool. I'm pretty excited. We carefully selected the invite list so that there's as little risk of my anxiety getting triggered as possible. I feel quite lucky and loved, as I didn't see my birthday as anything worth celebrating this year.~

Woke up feeling very emotional and about to clock in at my place of employment. And can't place it all in writing but not been a good experience with my store manager or his boss. Defamation of my character is a concern. I've been losing appetite and weight. Trying to perform at work to keep myself from hospitalization as a result of toxic masculinity.

For a successful review and a favorable on your behalf try to have the following:
Your Dr and Psychologists will do a work evaluation to determine if they feel you are capable of working now or in the near future. They will also assess you on a scale to determine how your mental / physical ailments are hampering your ability to work, take care of yourself, etc etc. These scales can range from Slightly up to Severe. The key here is to make sure the Dr and Psychologists and whom ever else you see are all on the same page.
If one feels you can work, two feels you can not this will unfortunately lower your chances. Try to get everyone you see for your issues to come to a understanding of how you feel, how this is affecting your ability to hold down a job.....if they each can agree on the the same symptoms or even close, and they each can agree this is hampering your ability to work, you will have a greater chance. Be sure to get a copy of your AXIS results. If your AXIS is given by several doctors / psychologist etc. that are as close to matching then you will have a much higher chance of getting awarded.
Your AXIS will give you a break down of what they feel you have. This can range from bipolar, schizo affective disorder, anxiety disorder, etc etc. Make sure you get a copy of your Ability To Work forms with the results and see if you agree / disagree with them.
Also you can have multiple AXIS's.
Don't get discouraged. It's a long haul, but if everything is in sync then you'll be ready and prepared :)
Good luck!
Here's wishing you a very happy 20th birthday! Treat yourself to something nice and sweet!
There is no shame in collecting ssdi. I don't feel I'm doing any thing wrong. I am disabled.
