Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

This is getting bad and weird..... I creep myself the fuck out. I'm not sure if it's because of the emotional abuse I suffered as a teenager or because I've messed with black magic and such. But.
It's getting more uncanny every time. It happened again on Friday.
It started with a trip to walmart to blow off my birthday money (my birthday was the 31rst, I'm 21 now). When we came back, I was carrying my grocery bags full of stuff in a cardboard box, and the bottom fell out. Nothing broke, but my things fell onto the pavement, and my mother stood there and didn't help me gather them.
I was in pain, didn't sleep that night, hadn't eaten that day, and it was about 80 degrees outside, so I was more emotionally affected than I otherwise would've been, and I became quite irate and irrationally upset. I thought maybe my social "off-ness" was getting triggered because I was overwhelmed and my senses were over-stimulated, but I was wrong. Something much worse was on the horizon.
I'll cut part of the story out to save space. To make a long story short, I kept feeling offended and overwhelmed, and I could feel a tension or an internal "pressure" which I can't really describe building up,
I don't recall how I became so enraged, but I actually got quite violent. I threw food at the wall (I picked it up, but still, how silly and embarrassing...) and I was screaming profanities in a disembodied voice that was.... really, really, how do I say, ghetto? I dunno. I'm very white as you can tell, obviously, and I haven't lived in an area where such was the dialect.
I'm not exaggerating, either. It was such an exaggerated and foreign accent that I can't even imitate it now, for the sake of example. It was as if I were speaking a different language, and my tone was lowered. I didn't recognize the voice coming out of my face, and my mother didn't either. The next day she said I sounded like "Aunt Jemimah"? Is the best way she knew how to describe it.
It was an out-of-body-experience. It felt like my personality took a back-row to somebody else. I couldn't control the violent, disembodied voice coming out of my mouth and I repeatedly told my mother to "fuck off" (again, shameful, I know, I've since apologized and tried to explain all of this to her) because I was afraid that "I" would attack her if she got too close. I was afraid for both of us.
And after I got away from her, I laid in my bed and cried because I felt helpless to control "myself", and I felt that doctors would never know what caused these episodes.
It's happened before, plenty of times over the years, but it's very rarely been *that* obviously, uhhh, not who I am.
But the thing is, I remember *most* of it. Not all. I don't remember every detail of what I've said or done. But with "true" DID or "Multiple Personality Disorder", you don't remember your split episodes.
And I have multiple different "personalities" that have come to the forefront, but most of my other "alters" don't completely "take over", they just kind of express themselves partially and make their presence known to me, and sometimes, to others. Also what's different, is that the others are in some way similar to me. This one didn't come from me, and wasn't in any way similar to me.
And I have a friend who has the same thing, basically, except that he does not remember any of his episodes, where his alters come forth, even though I've spoken to a few. /:
What's wrong with me? How do I stop this? I've even considered being exorcised, except that I am mostly atheistic, and I feel that if I have foreign things infesting me, maybe they're supposed to be there? Idk!
I don't want to be exorcised, because would I then have to spend the rest of my life being religious? Doesn't sound like me. Doesn't sound fun, to me.
But that's besides the point that, I strongly believe that there is a plausible scientific explanation, a neurological or psychological explanation.
So, probably I'll just go to Viewpoint (it's the sliding-scale center where I go for my psychiatric medicines). And confess to them all of this. /:
Sorry that this is weird as hell, and awkward as hell. Please believe, I know. Luckily it doesn't happen much...
I'm scared. I don't want to go to the state hospital or get put on Haldol or Geodon or any of those extreme antipsychotics which sedate, because right now, I need my energy levels up.
It's not interesting to me anymore, that I have "different sides". It's creepy, and it's terrifying. This is going too far.
Does anyone here have "alters"? *shudders*
**by the way, this is off-topic, but I don't remember if I've told you or not. Mum's home. She's been home. Her blood pressure was low, again. That's what was causing her symptoms. But the main reason she was acting loony is because her blood-oxygen level was 40%, so she wasn't getting oxygen to her brain.
But they fixed her, and she's been home for a while now. She goes to the fire station now sometimes, to get her blood pressure and blood-oxygen level checked. She's doing okay.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I don't know anything really about MPD or DID. Only what I've read online and in the media - so really, I know nothing.
Sounds like you need to keep journaling and show your journal to your pdoc. It's going to get harder and harder to remember what happened so jot as much of it down as you can, as you've done here. MPD and DID are pretty tough to handle....I hope it's not that.
As for what to do, don't have an exorcism....I'm an atheist, too, and that's just not going to help. It might even make matters worse, who knows? I don't think you need to be "Exorcised". Med check? Maybe.
I'm so glad you mum is okay -- mine was feeling weird and acting goofy and she used her oximeter and found her blood oxygen to be around 75%. At 60% and below, the brain fails to get adequate oxygen and serious brain injury/trauma/failure can occur. Perhaps she needs to be on oxygen 24/7? Mine does. She's finally admitting it. She has advanced emphysema from smoking five packs a day for 50 years.
Glad she's home and well - Hope you're feeling better soon! Call you pdoc and let her/him know what the heck is happening! Could be a side-effect of one of your meds - who knows! xoxo
Spacekat has said she thinks of this as dissociating; I hope some others will comment because, based only on your well-put description (and, we Aren't you so we can't be Sure), I can say I've done this on rare occasions but for me, I call it my 'Jekyll-and-Hyde" experience.
It has only happened for me when I'm involved in a new (fairly new) relationship and it Does seem I am two different people. Like you, I remember it but it's like I'm watching from the sidelines, out-of-control of it. It is based on extreme anger and comes out of Nowhere, with no preparation. I don't feel it is justified behavior for me no matter What the circumstances; I have raged and thrown things and gone so far as to hurt Myself in the past, during those moments.
Only in the past 4 years, especially the past year and a half, have I truly understood what is happening and how I can Change it. And it's working - finally.
I do want to say it's different from what I call "mania" or "hypomania", or even extreme depression, because Those I can see coming, somewhat. Even if I don't care or can't stop the bipolar swings, they have Signs, you know? But the Jekyll-and-Hyde rages got triggered too fast to have any warning.
Note: I associate my own behavior, in this way (the different people) with borderline personality issues. This may or may not actually be so; I'd love to hear what some others have to say. (remember, I tend to think like a shrink and categorize Everything, lol)
Voltaire, I am only now learning what Buddhists teach (and others), that there is this small window of Space, or time (whichever you may see) between a thought, and an action - even in those moments when the rage of a different personality shows up. It ends up being the only time we have to Work with, at the moment, but there is a possibility of learning to be had. :) (No, it isn't easy. No, it isn't foolproof. No, it isn't a quick fix. But it can be a Goal)
When I was a child and a preteen, Voltaire, I apparently had moments of rage where people tell me I was suddenly Crazed, but I Have no memory of it. I guess that is what the expression "seeing red" must be about?
Anyway. Just rambling, and I can believe you are Really upset about it; I know I have been, about mine. They were Horrible, but it's Not something we can just "magically" control. hah - if only it were that simple.
There are things in our lives - injustices; Internal emotional 'rages' that build up with each experience in some of us until, at a Totally unnecessary moment, we just Explode. it's not like it Really comes out of nowhere, I promise; we just don't recognize it, and who can blame us? People in general do not recognize where many things come from.
Now that you Know, and have seen....that's the first step. :)
P.S. Once,I dissociated in the ER while a therapist from the psych ward did my intake, and my sister was present. I don't remember what I said, and Char says, quote,it was "terrible and heartbreaking". I've actually prayed NOT to remember it if it was that bad. I remember one of my counselors saying "Just pray that you'll remember what you NEED to remember to be emotionally healed, and no more or less". I guess that pretty much sums it up for me.
I think it's wise that you talk to the mental health centre about it...
Happy 21!!... I know I've said this before ... I think therapy is going to be what helps you sweetie... That's the main treatment for CPTSD... Big hug...x
You should call your pdoc. Copy what you wrote here.
Hope things improve.
The shaman told me I have a porous aura and boundary issues. Her sessions were $600/hour. The psychopharmacolgist suggested anti-psychotics.
It was cheaper to see a UCLA trained Ph.d psychologist who wanted to ground me without medications. She gave me yoga poses and breathing techniques. Didn't work. She referred me to psychiatrist.
The psychiatrist said I had been inadvertantly hypnotized by a healer I saw, which is how I got blasted open and to take anti psychotics for six months.
It will be two years in November. Am still on them. She may let me off in February if my mind continues to be quiet. Am down to one quiet voice who does not possess me. Only talks to me sometimes.
Anyway, if I were you, I'd try my hardest not to let the Jamaican guest talk through you. Since you're conscious that it is not "you" talking, don't let your guest take over. Show some defense. I have lots of friends and family who aren't on medication but are very spiritual.
For me, I lost my normal self. I had hundreds of spirits going through me in a month's time. It was overwhelming. Therapy and the medication helped me be me again.
I've also been advised to "fight" or "challenge" the "guests", but I'm not exactly sure how.
Porous auras, ehh.... There might be some truth to that, but not for $600 an hour lol. That sounds like a scam. I'm glad you didn't go that route.
600mg Seroquel's a lot. I took I think 200mg once, and it was scarily strong. /: I've been on Seroquel, but not for a long time. It makes me binge eat and is scarily sedating, so I had to let it go.
But unlike other skills, there's not much um, how do you call it? Disparity in quality.
You can either see the future, or you cannot. See things which are subtly present, or you cannot.
So I don't think that there are good psychics and okay ones, just scammers and true clairvoyants.
And there's a difference between paying the bills with your talents and trying to make a huge profit, so if the asking price for an hour-long session is $600, it's either greed or a scam.
I'm glad your mother is doing better and I hope you had a wonderful 21st Birthday!!
