Has anyone else taken this for mania? I took it as prescribed last night, and it knocked me out. I had no motor function control, I slept for several hours (which is uncommon for me), and I did not hear 15 calls from family and friends (also unnormal because I am a light sleeper). I had to call into work sick because I still couldn't balance myself. I also was sweating like crazy. Has this happened to anyone else?

Do you mean Saphris? Yes, I'm on it. I remember when I first started taking it, it really knocked me out and I found it hard to wake up in the morning. But now that I've been on it for a while, it still helps me sleep really well, but it's easy to wake up and function through out the day.

I might be switching to this medication in the future....it has been recommended by my pdoc. Not sure if i can handle a med change again right now though. I'd be interested to hear how it works in a few weeks!

I have been on this. It helped me a lot for a while. A lot of people are tranquilized by antipsychotics like saphris. I am on zyprexa for now and it has helped me the longest. It knocks me out the most so far though so I take adderall during the day to stay awake and I take synthroid for a thyroid problem that I didn't know I had until now which has helped with my fatigue also. But some days I do have to call out of work especially when I change dosages. I set ten alarms to wake up sometimes (4 different alarm clocks-one even rolls around as you chase it to turn it off). But it has saved my life several times and it has saved me from even more ECT and hospital stays.
