Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I use Xanax and CBT to ease me through difficult social situations...like going to a Big Wedding.
I try to focus on the thoughts , that NOBODY there knows I am bipolar, so I can reduce my anxiety by keeping my mind on that thought
Social anxiety is worse than being bipoalr...in my opinion
usually they're complaining or they have something to say that every john smith would know to say the way that every john smith says it and it bores the crap out of me.
i know that's going to come of as arrogance, but i wouldn't even mind if someone had nothing to say, if they were just a little bit more interesting about the way they took up space.
i don't know if that sounds assy or self-righteous, but at this point i really don't care because i find about 90% of people to be incredibly bland and predictable.
i don't know, just something static, not a real flow going on.
and cell phones and hair straighteners and... fads.
sorry if that's kind of downer.
i also think millions upon millions are stuck in their first and second chakras and are perpetually occupied with survival and competition and sex.
also i used to drink and/or smoke situations and i'm sure all the self help proactives are going to see that and go ' ooooh well then it's all YOUR fault, that's why you find everyone dull ! '
not so, this began well before my weed and alcohol days.
and persisted throughout and continues.
i get nervous because i think people are nosy and irritating, and lacking in intelligence more often than not. and i know i sound like an absolute jerk, but at least i'm being honest.
i feel awkward around them because THEY are awkward, and there aren't very many people who practice proper etiquette and social graces in my opinion these days. most people are far too casual and over-familiar for my taste. and BORING.
Peace x
My bad
oh and they are often caught in the typical stereotypes of the masculine/feminine rolls, even when they are gay. their either talking so much they rail right over someone else's words and change the subject trying to draw all kinds of attention to themselves..... hogging the conversation airwaves, or they are wilting in a corner and won't say a word. or they stand there pandering to whomever is about to spontaneously combust from being so severely alpha and yang..... okay maybe it is me, or maybe i just don't meet or see people i like often enough.
i have been around people i do enjoy, but i guess not for sometime. i guess i just feel misunderstood and slightly sour so i'll stop.
i'm just kind of over it all.
sorry for being grouchy, and i do understand what you mean pancho. . ty xo
ty stephalee. i really do know what the social anxiety feels like and am sorry.
( oh wanted to just add -also so sorry for the multiple posts but we hit a nerve there with this topic- just wanted to add i have not been drinking or smoking )
harrumph. ! se la vie.
( haha )
and besides, what the hell am i going to tell them ' yeah i um, haven't been working for two years, i lounge around in my pajamas daily without taking a shower or anything, never go outside or talk to anyone, and i'll be applying for disability next ! oh and i'm bipolar.' AWESOME!
i have a feeling it would help if i just started a routine/schedule like i talk about all the time. i think meditation and yoga and things like getting out of the house first by myself would help a lot. going to the beach. doing a regular housecleaning/self hygiene/exercise/eating. (gets the circadian rhythm in sync so people don't back away so quickly, stare, or avoid) and the whole working at a passion.
i'm so sorry for all these replies, but i've been stewing in all this so thanks for the topic and i promise i will be quiet now.
comfortable is not a bad thing : ) looking at it a little different!
