I'll try my best to explain this as it confuses me even writing it! 
So long story short. I'm from Australia and currently living in Norway with my husband for the last 2 years.
When we went to renew my visa in December we submitted the documents which met all requirements. Except we were missing his last 3 payslips as he got laid off from his job (due to restructuring). Visa was meant to be renewed on the spot but they sent it to the immigration department instead. We have been waiting 4 months but still no answer.
IF they were to reject (which i dont see why). It can appealed. Should we mention my Bipolar diagnosis in my appeal with hope that they wont cancel my visa based on compassionate reasons? I'm in fear of my own mental health and stability in the event that they could cancel my visa and send me back. I have no idea what I will do without my husband he has been such a rock for me and keeping me stable.

If your visas were contingent of your hubby having a specific job, then that .might be their issue. If my husband changed jobs, he had to get approval from immigration first.
I'd give them a call, see if you can get any answers. I'm not sure about mentioning the BP. Without really knowing the details of your dilemma, its hard to say.
My husband is a Norwegian citizen and he's met all the other requirements except for the payslips as he was let go due to cuts just before my renewal! I'm sure it will be fine, ive just been a bit stressed about the whole situation. I'm surprised i've kept such a level head over it all. Its a good sign the meds are working.
These are just people who work for this department who may well be totally uneducated on mental health.... They may consider you as potentially someone that they'll have to support
