Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Based on BabyShelby's thread (which was all about how much she gives and I find her to be inspirational), I wanted to announce my own attempt at giving more this holiday season.
I had a long talk with my 2 children (13 and10) about how much they have and how they don't appreciate things the way most people should. They were surprisingly attentive. I asked them about what they thought less fortunate people had to look forward to, and they had good answers.
So, my kids have decided to go through their old toys, throw out the broken ones, and donate the ones they no longer use that are in good condition to either Goodwill, The Salvation Army or Toys for Tots. They have also agreed to volunteer with me at a soup kitchen every other night for the next 2 weeks, including Xmas Eve and Xmas Day.
We're also going to see if there is a center that packages food for the less fortunate and see if we can volunteer there.

Even without the clean rooms, I'm so proud of them. This is a Christmas that they won't likely forget.
Oh yeah, we decided to do a Secret Santa for a child in need next year too.

Last year, my children said it was the "worst Christmas Ever", b/c they got a lot of clothes. They also both got Nintendo DS's (roughtly $160 each) and 4 games each (at about $30 a pop), so they definitely need this lesson.
I'm glad they took it so well. Oh, and GinaWonders, I'm hoping you meant I'm "doing" a good job. lol. haha I gotcha. :P
