Hello to all,
I am writing for my son, age 26, who is struggling with a mental illness. He has received differing diagnoses, from prodromal schizophrenia, to major depressive disorder, bipolar, schizo affective disorder and possible borderline personality disorder. He is currently on resperidone, depakote, and cymbalta. He is very drowsy and fatigued and can sleep all day....he can barely make it through many activities.
One previous psychiatrist at his hospital felt strongly that he had schizo affective disorder and possible borderline personality disorder, and that he would do a lot better on Saphris. He started my son on saphris, but before it could take effect, my son left the hospital and his doctor took him off saphris and put him on resperidone. (Before all of this he had been on abilify with similar complaints of fatigue and drowsiness).
Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with Saphris? Is it any better than these other drugs? How does it help with fatigue, drowsiness, and anxiety, which are my sons major problems?

Sometimes these effects will lessen over a few weeks time, sometimes not .
It's kind of the price we pay for stability.
Saphris...I personally have never been on it, but it has many of the mentioned side effects.
The most important thing now, is to get your son stabilized, then work on a med combo that works well for him
