I thought true mania came with BP I only ?

I could be wrong on this .

When I get the mania's...I take Xananx AND Benadryl, it seems to work for me pretty well

I take sleep meds every night. (I don't take 'em and I don't sleep.)

I take .5mg/day of Xanax, for anxiety. I wish I took three, LOL!!!)

I have permission from my Pdoc to take extra sleep meds at night when I'm hypomanic. because I won't sleep, otherwise. But I've never changed my daytime meds to counter it. I never wanted to!! I liked the hypomania, LOL!!!

I say call your Pdoc tomorrow if it's still bothering you and I imagine he WILL likely up your daytime Xanax, or give you something else.

I'd talk to your doc about using a mood stabilizer at a maintenance dose. Tranquilizers won't necessarily stop mania from developing!

The number one thing that helps me keep mania at bay is sleeping. To that end I take 800 mg of Seroquel every night and up to 300 mg of trazodone when necessary. Benadryl and melatonin also help. Meditation also helps but, when manic, I am not patient enough to sit still and do it properly.

the xanax is too much..it will not even help manina or maninc of any form..so let it run its course..if it lasts longer than 1 month,,.may have to be in the hospitail...take care!!!!

I thought bipolar II's only got hypomanic, hence the reason for BP I. An Anti psychotic will help you better than more Xanax

They call it Bipolar 2 but I certainly have seasons of mania. Not often any more but, I have went through some extreme mania. I have had many serious seasons of depression but I have been in pretty stable shape with that for a long time. I am a little freaked feeling manic. I've done some pretty stupid things in my past when manic. I am seraquel, Xanax, and wellbutron. What do people take when they are manic?

It looks like they call it hypomanic episodes for Bipolar 2. I certainly fit the WebMD definition.

I heard lamictal is great for bi polar 2.
